KASUR, May 26: Hundreds of Wapda employees observed a pen down strike and later staged a sit-in in front of their executive engineer’s office in Phoolnagar on Monday to protest the Sarai Mughal police’s failure to book the suspects who thrashed Wapda officials when they caught some influential stealing electricity.

On a complaint, Wapda officials Khalid Mahmood, Qayyum, Rizwan Shah and Farooq Ahmed caught Abdul Hameed, Ibrahim, Muhammad Ishaq and others of Balloki locality while stealing electricity a few days ago.

The power thieves along with thirty others later kidnapped the Wapda officials, took them to the outhouse of Abdul Hameed and thrashed them.

Though, according to the Wapda officials, the Sarai Mughal police registered electricity thefts cases, they did not register torture cases against the culprits.

Representatives of the Kisan Board also joined Wapda officials in their sit-in and endorsed their demand to register a torture case against the suspects.

The Wapda officials also threatened to disconnect the electricity supply to the entire area if their demands were not met within seven days.
