KHAIRPUR: Armed men kidnap woman

KHAIRPUR, May 26: Six armed men kidnapped a woman from her house in Shaikh village near Ahmedabad in the Kotdiji area late on Sunday night.

Irshad Shaikh, the father of kidnapped woman, told journalists on Monday that some influential people were involved in the kidnapping of his daughter Khanamzadi.

Meanwhile, a bullet-riddled body was found in Faiz Wah (canal) in the jurisdiction of B-section police in Khairpur on Sunday.

The area people spotted the body floating in the canal and informed the police which recovered it. The deceased was identified as Manthar Shaikh, 35.

PROTEST: A large number of farmers held a demonstration in Thari Mirwah on Monday to protest against shortage of water in Ali Bahar and other canals of the area.

The protesting farmers told journalists that Ali Bahar, the main canal of Thari Mirwah taluka, and small canals fed by it, did not contain water due to which their crops were getting spoiled.
