LPG price raised again

Published May 27, 2008

LAHORE, May 26: The marketing companies on Monday again increased the ex-plant prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs2 per kg pushing the domestic cylinder price by Rs25 and that of commercial cylinder by Rs100.

The raise was condemned by the FPCCI and LPG Distributors Association.

The chairman FPCCI zonal standing committee on LPG Irfan Khokhar said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani should take notice of the unjustified raise in prices by the gas mafia, which was using this essential commodity only for multiplying its profits.

He said that the LPG prices had been increased five times during the past 25 days. The retail price had been raised from Rs46 per kg to Rs56 raising cost of domestic cylinder by Rs100 and commercial cylinder by Rs400 but no government agency bothered to take notice of the fleecing of consumers by the gas companies.
