GUJAR KHAN, May 25: Six patrolling police posts have been established in the Rawalpindi region to check the smuggling of wheat and atta to NWFP.

The posts have been established at Mullah Mansoor, Khushaal Garh, Kotke, Jheari Kas, Barian and Burhan interchange.

This was stated by Dr Muhammad Azam, senior superintendent patrolling police Rawalpindi region, during his visit to Thakara post in Gujar Khan on Sunday.

Controlling the smuggling of wheat flour has become a challenging task and the patrolling officials have been put on alert to check this practice, he said.

Mr Azam claimed that the checkposts have confiscated huge consignments of wheat flour that were being smuggled to NWFP, adding that during the last 24 hours over 60,965kg of wheat flour loaded on trucks were seized by the Punjab highway patrolling police at Mullah Mansoor post.

He asked the patrolling police to remain vigilant in assisting the commuters and checking highway robberies in their areas of jurisdiction.
