By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, May 25: The chairman and five members of the Board of Governor (BoG) of Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) and School of Nursing, Bahawalpur, have resigned from the board membership what they claimed inprotest.

In a joint resignation sent to the Punjab health secretary, BoG chairman Muhammad Hussain Cheema and members, Sheikh Nasir Saleem, Chaudhry Muhammad Amjad Khan, Chaudhry Masood Nasir, Prof Dr Sarwar Riaz and Malik Habibullah Bhutta, said that despite their contribution towards patients’ welfare and the betterment of institutions their services were not acknowledged.

They mentioned in their resignation note that they had no option but to resign from the BoG membership. They asked the secretary to de-notify their names. The Punjab government had nominated the BoG chairman and its five members on July 11, 2007 as non-official members.

It is learnt that members have submitted resignations in anticipation of their replacement by the PML-N government in Punjab because they were nominated on the recommendations of district nazim Tariq Cheema, a close aide of former chief minister Pervaiz Elahi.
