GHALLANAI: WHO official kidnapped in Mohmand

GHALLANAI, May 25: Unidentified persons kidnapped an official of World Health Organisation in Mohmand Agency on Sunday.
Shahid Khan, WHO additional monitoring officer for polio, was on his way from Peshawar to Ambar tehsil of the Mohmand Agency when unidentified persons abducted him, sources said.
Some sources said that later on local Taliban got hold of him along with his kidnappers and announced that they would decided about their fate.
According to sources, the local Taliban have arrested three kidnappers and announced that the kidnappers were bringing bad name. They said that those involved in kidnapping of people in the name of Taliban were causing harm to their activities, adding that the kidnappers would be given exemplary punishment.
Our Peshawar Bureau adds: A senior doctor and his driver were kidnapped by unidentified persons near Mathani area while travelling from Peshawar to Southern Bannu district Saturday night.
Family sources said that Dr Mohammad Younas, who is presently officer on special duty in the Health Directorate, was going to his native Bannu district when some unidentified persons kidnapped him at gun point along with driver.
The culprits have also taken away his vehicle. Dr Younas is a former head of the Provincial Aids Control Programme. An official of Mathani police station, on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Kohat Road, expressed ignorance about the incident.
He stated that they had also heard about it but none of the family members or friends of the kidnapped doctor had approached them in that regard. He added that they had not registered any FIR of the alleged occurrence.
