LARKANA, May 24: The formal orders to handover the command of investigation wings of Sindh police to the District Police Officers would be issued within a week.

Provincial Police Officer of Sindh Dr Sohaib Suddle announced this at a press conference after presiding over a meeting of the police officers of Sukkur region here on Saturday.

He said that he had conveyed the decision to the police officers in the meeting.

He said that it was the absence of ‘will’ that the police order-2002 did not take effect as it should have had been.

Responding to a question regarding the shortage of police force he said to overcome the shortage a five-year plan of recruiting 10,000 policemen every year had been submitted to the Sindh government and both federal and provincial governments had been requested for meeting the demand.

The problem was quite grave in newly created districts in Sindh, he said.

The PPO of Sindh disclosed that to reduce the volume of complaints against police, a compliant authority would be established in every district with the DPO its head.

He said it would be mandatory for the compliant authority to resolve the problem within two days.

The PPO said that one-fourth of the entire police force in Sindh was suffering from hepatitis-B and added they would be provided treatment while rest of the force would be vaccinated against hepatitis-B.

He said that scientific monitoring of police would begin with the yardstick of how many criminal gangs had been busted.

He termed the murder of PML-N leader Tariq Khan in Karachi a target killing.
