KARACHI: Post-mortem performed
By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, May 24: A medical team led by police surgeon Dr Bashir Shaikh, performed post-mortem of a 30-year-old woman to determine cause of her death.
The woman, Sanober, daughter of a police official, Zafar Iqbal, had married Edwin, a Christian-convert, some six years back. Edwin had later adopted the name of Ahmad Khan.
The deceased’s mother, Shamim Akhtar, told Dawn that she and her other family members were informed on May 9, 2008 about Sanober’s death. The family, she said, took part in the final rites and she herself gave last bath to her daughter’s body before burial in the graveyard behind the Defence View.
Ms Akhtar claimed that while giving bath, she had noticed that the body had turned blue and foam was coming out of her mouth. “We got suspicious and lodged an FIR against Edwin/Ahmad Khan with the Baloch Colony police.”
Accordingly, the post-mortem was carried out in the presence of Judicial Magistrate Asif Ahmad on Saturday.
