Family planning programme launched

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, May 23: US Consul General in Karachi Kay Anske has said that assistance to Pakistan is a demonstration of America’s commitment to work with the people of this country and provide them better education, health facilities and greater economic opportunities.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the USAID’s family planning programme, Family Advancement for Life and Health (Falah), here on Thursday, Ms Anske said a healthy population with access to food, water education and jobs was critical for Pakistan’s development and security.

She said the Falah would work in 20 districts of Pakistan, including six districts of Balochistan and would complement the efforts of Balochistan’s government to meet 31 per cent of the province’s unmet family planning needs.
