Japan to provide technical assistance to workforce


ISLAMABAD, May 23: Japan will provide modern technical assistance to Pakistani workforce in industrial sector to enhance the opportunities for employment in the sector.

This was told in a meeting held here on Friday between Federal Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Syed Khurshid Shah and Japanese ambassador Seiji Kojima. The government and the Japan Industrial Trading Corporation (JITCO) in this regard will soon sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The minister informed the envoy that the government was seriously working on a labour policy premised on the welfare of workers which, he said, would be announced soon and urged the Japanese government to accommodate maximum Pakistani trained workers. The envoy appreciated the honesty and hardworking of Pakistani community working in Japan. Both the dignitaries agreed to enhance mutual relations in labour sector as well.—Our Reporter
