HYDERABAD: Call to save Sindh cattle species

HYDERABAD, May 23: Unique livestock varieties of Sindh are fast disappearing and if the authorities do not make efforts to save buffalos, goats and other animals, the province will suffer irreparable losses in milk and meat production.

This was stated by Sindh Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Dr Basheer Ahmed Shaikh at the concluding session of a 45-day training course for livestock owners jointly organised by the Sindh University and the Livestock Dairy Development Board at the campus.

He said that livestock was like a cash card for farming community but unfortunately most of the male members of the community in Sindh wasted time at restaurants, giving scant attention to their farms and livestock. It was the womenfolk who took care of cattle, he added.—Bureau
