KARACHI, May 23: The Site Town police on Friday arrested four suspects involved in robberies in industrial units and hijacking goods consignments.

In an early morning action, Pak Colony police raided a godown in Chawkiwara and recovered stolen raw leather worth more than Rs1 million.

Site Town SP Athar Rasheed Butt said that the leather consignment was taken away from an industrial unit in Haroonabad area last month.

He said the police conducted the raid on a tip-off about the criminals who had hijacked a truckload of leather from the industrial unit owned by Shaukat Ali. The SP said two suspects, Dilip and Tarkeep Chand, were arrested.

In the meantime, the Peerabad police acted upon a complaint lodged with the Jamshed Quarters police station about hijacking of a truck carrying 172 LPG cylinders, the SP said, adding that the truck was found parked in a Peerabad locality. Two suspects, Pazeer Khan and Ghulam Hussain, were arrested.
