KARACHI, May 23: Five ships scheduled to load/offload containers, cement, palm oil and chemicals were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Friday.

Meanwhile, three more ships carrying containers and furnace oil also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy was maintained on the higher side at the wharves where eight ships, Al-Mariyah, APL Alexandrite, Ahmad Junior, Wales-II, Gemini, Chemstar Venus, Sea Lion and Nord Vision, were occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, palm oil, chemical, furnace oil and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 66,933 tons comprising 50,868 tons of import and 16,065 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Chemstar Venus, Al-Mariyah, APL Alexandrite and Sea Lion sailed out.
