KARACHI, May 22: Traders of the old city areas have decided to defy the government’s orders to keep their business closed on Fridays.

The Old City Traders Alliance (OCTA) held a meeting on Thursday to discuss various issues with reference to the government’s decisions of early opening/closure of business and weekly holiday.

Chaired by Jamil Paracha, head of the alliance, the meeting declared that 65 markets located in the old city area would remain open on Friday as usual.

Talking to journalists, Mr Paracha said the traders would lose 20 per cent business if they kept their shops closed on Fridays.—PPI
