ISLAMABAD, May 21: Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Wednesday said the army was fully prepared to meet current and emerging external and internal threats with support of the nation.

Addressing the officers of Rawalpindi Garrison, he reiterated that training and professional pursuits must remain the prime focus to enhance operational preparedness, so as to attain the highest standards of capability at all levels. Gen Kayani said the army would spare no effort in defending the country.

The chief of army staff highlighted some of the measures that had been initiated to make functioning of the army more efficient and responsive. Corps Commander Rawalpindi was also present during the address.
