Steps soon to increase industrial efficiency

ISLAMABAD, May 21: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo has said all necessary measures will be taken by the government to make the industrial sector more efficient to increase its production.

He was chairing a meeting of the senior officials of the Ministry of Industries and Production here on Wednesday. The adviser was briefed by Secretary Ministry of Industries and Production Mr Shahab Khawaja about the structure, working and functions of the ministry including an update on the ongoing projects.

Mr Wattoo instructed the concerned officials to give him detailed briefing on the status of the various projects being undertaken by the ministry so as to formulate a strategy to complete them on fast track basis.

He also directed the secretary industries and production to convene an immediate meeting with Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) so as to use power generation capacity of the sugar mills as early as possible.

He also directed the officials to conduct feasibility for setting up a DAP fertiliser plant in the public sector for the provision of fertiliser to farmers at cheaper rates.
