Four Friends win bridge team event
KARACHI, May 19: Playing under the new name of Four Friends, Strikers with 95 victory points (VPs) won the Swiss Movement bridge team competition at the Aslam Memorial Hall, National Stadium, on Sunday evening.
14 teams took part in the competition.
Four Friends won all the five matches to foil Candyland’s bid for a double.
S. M. Ozair, Zafar Zaki, Abdul Khaliq and Nasir Reza Khan played for Four Friends. They defeated Attackers 18-12, Candyland 16-14, Solox 24-6 and Piffers 21-9.
Candyland with their three regular pairs of Mohammad Ismail-Mubashir Puri, Hasan Askari-Khaled Mohiuddin and Ziaullah Baig-Hamed Mohiuddin claimed second position by scoring 87 VPs.
They beat Hyderabad 19-11, Mahmood 18-12, Chandna 20-10 and Attackers 18-12, but lost to Four Friends.
Chandna was third with a score of 87 VPs.
The team comprised Imad Sayed, Wajahat Suri, Abdul Muqeet and Shakeel Chandna.
They played a draw with Nerds, outpaced Dada 25-5 and Abedies 23-7, and losing two matches, 14-16 to Piffers and 10-20 to Candyland.—Agencies
