GUJRANWALA, May 19: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested 36 people, deported from Turkey, from the Islamabad airport and brought them here on Monday.

They were arrested by Turkish border security force, FIA additional director Hussain Asghar said.

He said three of the deportees -- Muhammad Tariq and Zahid Abbas of Sialkot and Tariq of Sheikhupura -- were released because of their poor health. The others were being interrogated to trace those who had sent them abroad by using illegal means.

POLLING STATIONS: As many as 52 polling stations out of 180 constituted for by-election to provincial assembly seat PP-99 (Gujranwala-V) were declared sensitive by the returning officer.

The RO ordered deployment of police force there to maintain law and order on the polling day.

The returning officer, additional district and sessions judge Raja Arshad Mahmood, warned that no body would be allowed to enter polling stations with arms. He summoned all aspirants to his court on Tuesday (today) for the scrutiny of their nomination papers.

SUICIDE: An expatriate committed suicide by shooting himself in Aroop Town here on Monday.

Reports said that M Suleman, a computer engineer, had returned from the US some two months ago. He was a cousin of MPA Shazia Farid.
