Traders asked to resist extortionists

GUJRANWALA, May 19: Regional police officer DIG Zulfikar Ali Cheema has asked industrialists and business community not to be scared by kidnappers and extortionists and seek police help when in trouble.

Speaking to members of local chamber here on Monday, he claimed that police had traced a notorious gang of kidnappers and would be able to lay hands on other gangsters as well.

He said some businessmen were so scared that they paid heavy ransom to criminals just after receiving their phone calls. “Your panic encourages outlaws to commit more crime.”

He asked the businesscommunity to cooperate with police in arresting the criminals.
