FAISALABAD, May 19: A woman and her newly married daughter committed suicide over a family dispute at Elahiabad in Saddar police precincts on Monday.

Reports said Saima had married Mohammad Sharif of Chak 38-GB, Sattiana, a couple of months ago. She developed differences with her in-laws and left them for her parents home.

Police sources said Saima, 16, and her mother Bashiran Bibi, 45, committed suicide by consuming poison when some of their family members allegedly chided them for developing differences with relatives.

Saima's in-laws tried to reconcile the matter, but to no avail.

Police handed over bodies to the family members who refused to go for any investigation.
