KARACHI: ‘Recruitment by caretaker govt to be cancelled’
KARACHI, May 19: Sindh Minister for Labour Amir Nawab has said that recruitment made by the caretaker government in various departments, including the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, will be cancelled.
He was talking to a delegation of the National Labour Federation (NLF) in his office on Monday.
The delegation, led by Sindh NLF president Rana Mahmood Ali Khan, comprised Nizamuddin Shah, Khalid Khan, Shakil Ahmed Sheikh, Haji Mashooq Kharani, Shahid Ayub, Abdus Salam and Iqbal Jamil.
They discussed with the minister issues like poor performance of the Sindh Employees Social Security Institution, abolition of the contract system, fixing of minimum wages and grant for dowry.
They also apprised him of the problems being faced by workers with regard to pension cards, appointment letters, social security cards, etc. The issue of grievances of the bangle industry workers and police torture and atrocities against workers in the Landhi industrial area also came up for discussion.
The delegation appealed to the minister to lift the ban on trade union activities in the Karachi Shipyard.—PPI
