ISLAMABAD, May 18: Security in the capital city was further tightened in the wake of Mardan suicide attack on Sunday, police said.

The security measures at all the entrance points of the city have been beefed up and passenger and other vehicles coming from NWFP, especially Peshawar, are being checked.

All the subdivisional police officers and SHOs have been directed to beef up patrolling in their respective areas.

The patrolling in all the sectors of Islamabad and around sensitive installations have also been intensified. Likewise, the number of pickets set up on different roads have been doubled.

Foot patrolling by police personnel is also started around markets, shopping centres and public places. The areas where sensitive government, foreign and armed forces installations are located have already been declared red zone.
