Rule of army blamed for people’s woes
By Mansoor Mirani
KHAIRPUR, May 18: Director, Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER), Karamat Ali, has said that main reason for problems of the common people was long rule of army.
He said this while speaking at a seminar on “Control on Atomic Weapons” organised by Pakistan Peace Coalition in collaboration with the NGOs here on Sunday.
He said that instead of providing some relief to the people in shape of zakat and donations, basic rights of people be restored. He said that army rule has always insulted the humanity. He said that welfare of people was impossible without granting them basic facilities and providing them food, clothing and shelter (Roti, Kapra aur Makan). He said that the unequal distribution of economic resources resulted into creation of thieves and dacoits.
He said that people voted the people’s government to power but it is yet to be seen whether the previous policies would be changed or not. He, however, regretted that no change was witnessed as yet. He said that problems of the people, including unemployment and hunger would be solved within next few years if defence budget was reduced by 10 per cent almost every year.
