ISLAMABAD, May 18: A mentally disturbed man, who was brought to the capital city to overcome the distress, committed suicide by shooting himself here on Sunday, police said.

Shahid Iqbal, a resident of Faisalabad, shot himself in the head with a 30-bore pistol at the offices of a company located at Sarai Karboza in Tarnol.

After getting information about the incident, the local police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for legal process.

Iqbal’s cousin, the owner of a trading company, brought him to Islamabad three to four days ago with the permission of his parents. The police said the deceased had found the weapon used in the incident from a cupboard.

Meanwhile, a traditional drummer was killed after being hit by a bullet fired in jubilation during a marriage at Sharifabad locality in Tarlai. The deceased, identified as Bakht Gul, was hired along with his group to entertain the participants of the marriage.

Some friends of the bridegroom armed with sophisticated weapons started firing in the air in jubilation, and one of the stray bullets hit Mr Gul in the head, claiming his life.—Staff Reporter
