No reason to destabilise Punjab govt, says Taseer

LARKANA, May 17: The Governor of Punjab, Salman Taseer, has said that he had firm belief in democracy and there was not a single reason to destabilise the coalition government in Punjab.

Talking to journalists at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto on Saturday, he said he was not against any political party and appreciated the reconciliation policy adopted by the co-chairperson of PPP Asif Ali Zardari and added nothing should be done in haste.

He said that Mr Zardari was utilising his abilities to strengthen democracy and democratic system in the country for the general welfare of the masses.

Replying to a question, he said that decision to restore judges would be taken after consultation with experts and that nation would accept the decision, he added.

“It is my will that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should contest election from Punjab after completing his studies, Mr Salman Taseer said.

He said there was no doubt that he belonged to PPP and became governor only after PPP secured a popular mandate from Punjab. He said Punjab had been supporting PPP and would continue supporting it in the future and added that PPP would be stronger in Punjab in future.

He said his priority was to promote education in the province as it played an important role in society’s reformation.

Later, he along with his wife, visited Bhutto House Naudero and met with Faryal Talpur who is contesting from NA-207 in the by-polls.

Earlier, when he arrived at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto, he was warmly received amid slogans of Jeay Bhutto.

He laid floral wreaths on the graves of Benazir Bhutto, Zulfikar

Ali Bhutto, Mir Murtaza Bhutto and

Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto and offered

fateha.
