Nazim accused of harassing activists of SUP
Bureau Report
HYDERABAD, May 17: The leaders of Sindh United Party, Jamshoro district chapter, have blamed the district nazim of Jamshoro for committing atrocities against the SUP workers by using his cronies and the district police.
Addressing a news conference at the press club here on Saturday, the district president of the party, Mir Moula Bux Laghari, members central committee, Malik Nadir Khan and Roshan Ali Buriro, Khuda Bux Joyo and others warned that if the victimisation of SUP leaders and workers was not stopped, the party will stage protest demonstration, hold public meetings and resort to hunger strikes and finally convert the protests into a movement against the district nazim.
They said that the district nazim who was earlier patronised by the previous regime had joined the PPP after it came into power and had made the lives of the political opponents in Jamshoro and Kohistan miserable.
They said that the nazim had managed to get his own officers appointed in the district and had converted Jamshoro, especially taluka Thana Bula Khan into a tribal state.
Mir Moula Bux Laghari said that the entire government machinery had been paralysed and the government functionaries were working as the kamdars(servants) of district nazim.
He alleged that after the general elections, SUP leader, Mohammad Soomar Barejo and his son were implicated in a false case and their vehicle was impounded by the Nooriabad police two months ago.
He said that the personal armed guards of the district nazim and the officials of the wildlife department had also conducted a raid on the village of another SUP leader, Ghulam Mustafa Khoso.
He said a false theft case was registered against another SUP leader, Rawal Sehrio of UC Thano Arib Khan.
He further alleged that a taluka nazim who was the henchman of the district nazim had launched a crackdown and closed the shops and hotels of SUP workers in Thano Ahmed Khan and posted armed men to ensure that the shops and the hotels remain closed.
He quoted many other instances of the alleged victimization of SUP workers by the district Nazim.
The SUP leaders cautioned the PPP high command that the district nazim has never remained sincere with any party and is only sincere with his own self.
Restore judges: The Pasban activists staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Friday for reinstatement of deposed chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and other judges.
They said that President Musharraf should be made accountable for creating crisis after crisis in the country.
