QUETTA, May 16: Members and supporters of the Jamiat Ulema-I- Islam-F staged a demonstration here on Friday in protest against the deteriorating law and order situation in the city and the alleged US attack on Damadola.

Addressing a rally at the Mannan Chowk after the Juma prayers, Hafiz Hamadullah, deputy general secretary of the party, former minister Maulana Amir Zaman, Rehmatullah and Ataullah Kakar said the JUI would not leave people of the city at the mercy of kidnappers and bandits.

They blamed police failure to curb lawlessness for the increasing incidents of kidnapping for ransom and robbery in the provincial capital.They demanded effective measures for protecting people’s lives and property and action against negligent police personnel. Condemning the missile attack on Damadola, the said the US could not suppress the ongoing “Islamic movement”.

The JUI leaders said their party was not interested in reinstatement of deposed judges because all judges, including Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and Justice Hameed Dogar, had taken oath on the Provisional Constitution Order at one time or the other.
