KARACHI: Milk-sellers on strike

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 16: Milk supplies to the city were disrupted on Friday as many retailers observed a strike in response to the call given by the All Karachi Milk Retailers Association. Hafiz Nisar Gadi of the association claimed that 80 per cent of milk shops remained closed.

The strike call was given in protest against the city government’s drive against “profiteers” during which a large number of milk sellers have been arrested and fined for overcharging.

“The shops owned by wholesalers and dairy farmers were, however, open,” Gadi said.
