FAISALABAD, May 15: A Customs Advisory Committee (CAC) is being set up in the district to resolve problems being faced by importers and exporters.

Young industrialists will be given representation in this body.

This was said by Faisalabad customs collector Fazal Yazdani in a meeting with members of Young Entrepreneurs Organisation (YEO) here on Thursday.

He said young industrialists and exporters had been playing an effective role in strengthening the economy and promotion of industry. In the wake of the efforts being made by potential young industrialists, he said, the members of YEO would be included in the advisory committee.

Highlighting the performance of scanner installed at the dry port, he said besides controlling movement of illegal articles it would save time by checking items being imported or exported.

YEO president Umar Nazar said the government should institute the CAC right away to assist dry port for solving the tribulations being faced by importers and exporters.

He said suggestions forwarded by trade organisations should be given importance and Faisalabad Customs Authority should be authorised to issue trans-shipment certificates like Karachi.
