‘People’s rights under threat’

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, May 15: Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Director I.A. Rehman has said that minorities as well as majority are not safe in the country and excesses are being committed against them.

He was a keynote speaker at a seminar on “minority rights in democratic government” held here on Thursday.

The HRCP core group of Mirpurkhas organised the event.

Mr Rehman said that he would present a proposal to the government on problems and rights of minorities in the four provinces of the country.

He said 71 suicide bomb blast incidents had occurred over the past year in the country in which 951 innocent people lost their lives. People had expectations from the present government and hoped that it would protect their rights, he added.
