JAFRIA STUDENTS: A large number of students belonging to the Hyderabad chapter of the Jafria Students Organisation staged a demonstration outside the press club on Wednesday, as part of its “Down with Israel day” activities.

Maulana Altaf Hussain Al-Hussaini, Nizamul Hyderi and Rashid Ali Rizvi said in their addresses to the protesters that “the illegitimate child” Israel was born and occupied the holy land on May 14, 1948.

They said over more than half a century of its existence Israel had been committing inhuman atrocities against the people of Palestine due to indifference of Muslim rulers to the sufferings of their brethern.

Had Muslim rulers awakened when Israel announced its existence the country could never have come into existence, they remarked.

They said that even the UNO was helpless against flagrant violation of fundamental human rights of the Palestinian people because Israel had the uninterrupted support of America, they said.

The protesters carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against Israel and America also burnt the national flag of Israel.

DEMO: A large number of work charge employees of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) working in taluka municipal administrations staged a demonstration outside the press club on Wednesday against non-payment of salary for 11 months.
