Waqar stuns Shahid

ISLAMABAD, May 13: Pakistani Waqar Mehboob’s stunning win over his compatriot Shahid Zaman was the highlight of the day as a total of eight matches were decided in the main round of the President PSF International Squash Championship on Tuesday at the Jansher Khan Squash Complex, Abbottabad.

Waqar, the world No 207, defeated 57th-ranked Shahid 11-5, 11-6, 11-4 in 16 minutes.

In other matches played on Tuesday, Farhan Mehboob defeated Nowsherwan 11-5, 11-5, 6-11, 11-4, Arshad Iqbal Burki outplayed Kashif Khan 11-4, 11-2, 11-6, Majid Khan overwhelmed Owais Khan 11-3, 7-11, 11-6, 11-8, Yasir Butt edged out Shoaib Hasan 11-7, 11-7, 11-4 and Amjad Khan overcame Shams-ul-Islam 11-8, 11-3, 11-7.

Also on Tuesday, Lewis Hurst of Wales thrashed Neil Hitchens of England 10-11(0-2), 11-7, 11-10(2-0),11-9 and Bilal Zaman of Pakistan beat Naresh Kumar of India 11-7, 5-11, 11-6, 11-9. —Sports Reporter
