Aditya shocks Advani, Jin Long in final: Asian Snooker


DUBAI, May 10: India’s Aditya Mehta pulled off a major shock on Friday evening when he outclassed compatriot Pankaj Advani 6-1 in the semi-final of the 24th Asian snooker championship at the Dubai Police Officers Club Hall here.

The 23-year-old made fantastic comeback after losing the opening frame to former world amateur champion Pankaj Advani.

In the other semi-final, Jin Long of China and Moh Keen Hoo of Malaysia were involved in brilliant display of break-making and strong potting.

The Chinese, however, came out triumphant 6-3.

Moh Keen made a fine break of 63 in the first frame before Jin Long compiled superb breaks of 55, 88 and 71 to secure a healthy lead of 3-1.

The Malaysian bounced back with breaks of 89 and 90 to make it 3-3.

The 27-year-old Beijing-based Jin Long in a decisive demolition act smashed the breaks of 72, 73 and 48 to qualify for the final showdown against Aditya.
