HARIPUR: Drive against fake press number plates to be launched

By Our Correspondent

HARIPUR, May 10: The local police would launch a campaign against the vehicles carrying fake number plates of the press.

This was stated by Ghulam Mubashar Maken, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Haripur, while talking to journalists here on Saturday.

The SDPO said that it was brought in his notice that there were a number of cars, Suzuki pick ups, Suzuki Carrys and Toyota Hiace carrying the number plates of the press, but factually these vehicles were neither owned by journalists nor had legal documents.

He disclosed that unscrupulous elements, particularly those having vehicles with fake chassis and engine numbers, were misusing the press number plates.

Mr Maken asked the local mediapersons to pinpoint black sheep within their ranks and particularly those who were not journalists but enjoying the privileges of a newsman.
