PESHAWAR: Arms dealer’s remand in NAB custody extended

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, May 10: An accountability court on Saturday extended remand into custody of the NAB of an arms dealer of Lahore for five more days.

The court had earlier remanded the accused into the custody of the NAB for a week, but the investigation officer of the case had requested the court that they needed further custody of the accused as they had to trace the government functionaries involved in the case.

Judge of the court Subhan Sher also directed the authorities to produce the accused, Malik Waqar Awan, before the court again on May 15.

Waqar Awan, who is a resident of Mughalpura, Lahore, was arrested a few days ago by the NAB (Frontier).

The bureau had alleged that the accused, in connivance with some government officials, used to prepare forged no objection certificates (NOC) of arms licenses and supply arms to different cities. The NAB had received numerous complaints regarding his activities.
