LAHORE, May 9: A woman with her three children attempted to commit suicide outside the Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Friday.

Nasreen Bibi, 50, of Faisalabad, arrived at 90-Sharah Quaid-i-Azam with her children and sprinkled kerosene petrol on her and the children. The policemen deployed there stopped her moments before she could set herself and her children on fire.

The police shifted them to the Civil Lines Police Station from where they were handed over to Faisalabad police.

According to eyewitnesses, Nasreen was protesting against the highhandedness of Faisalabad police. She told Lahore police that some influential people of her locality (Gulberg) had illegally occupied her house in connivance with Faisalabad police officials. She said she had registered a complaint with the authorities concerned but to no avail.
