MUZAFFARABAD, May 9: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan has appointed the finance secretary as inquiry officer to probe into the alleged irregularities in installation of shelters in the earthquake affected capital under the supervision of Development Authority Muzaffarabad (DAM), it was learnt here on Friday.

According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), Fahimullah Khattak is to probe whether there was any misappropriation/mismanagement in the award of contract and construction of the said shelters, besides suggesting any suitable remedial and punitive measures against the culprits.

The inquiry officer has to present his report to the prime minister within 30 days.

DAM had supervised construction and allocation of more than a 1,000 shelters, funded by the Swedish International Development Agency, to quake survivors in state capital’s worst hit Chehla Bandi locality.

Lately, DAM officials are also supervising construction of shelters, donated by the Saudi government, on the land of survivors in Muzaffarabad’s central parts.
