LARKANA: PMA condemns doctor’s killing

LARKANA, May 9: Protesting the murder of Dr Dharmo Das, a medical officer working in the radiology department of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH), the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Larkana chapter, held a protest meeting and also observed a two-hour strike here on Friday.

He was killed on Thursday in front of the Lahori branch of Muslim Commercial Bank when he was entering into the bank to send money on line.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Abdul Waheed Memon, president of PMA Larkana and Dr Ikram Tunio, former president of PMA Larkana and others, condemned the incident and said that it had created a sense of insecurity among the doctors.

They pledged to continue their protest till the arrest of the assailants. They marched in the hospital premises and also observed a two hours strike.

The PMA leaders said that doctors were being targeted and the crime graph had surged.

They also announced complete boycott of all OPDs’ from Saturday.

Meanwhile, Dr Ramesh Lal, brother of the deceased doctor on Friday registered an FIR with the Civil Lines police against three unidentified motorcyclist.

Police on Saturday released the five employees of National Saving Centre who were picked and for interrogation. Sources said two more suspects were picked up but police denied it.

ADMISSION SLIPS: Protesting over non-issuance of admission slips to 700 male and female candidates of First Year and Inter Science (XI and XII), pre-engineering and pre-medical groups by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Larkana, activists of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) and Jeay Sindh Students Federation (JSSF) held a protest demonstration on Friday outside the local press club.

They alleged that chairman of the BISE Larkana, had refused to issue admit cards to candidates who had submitted their forms well in time.
