CAS forms panel to hear swimmer’s appeal
GENEVA, May 8: A panel has been set up to hear the appeal of swimmer Nicholas D’Arcy against the Australian Olympic Committee’s decision to drop him from the team, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) said Thursday.
The case will be heard in Sydney before the end of May.
Honourable Justice Henric Nicholas will head the panel, which also includes Honourable John Winneke QC and Honourable Justice Roger Gyles.
The hearing will be held confidentially but the final award will be made public, CAS said in a statement. D’Arcy was dropped from the Australian Olympic team after a bar brawl in March in which he allegedly left former swimmer Simon Cowley with a broken jaw, a broken nose, a fractured eye socket, crushed cheekbone and fractured palate.
