‘Un-elected actors taking decisions’

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 8: Pakistan Muslim League-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, said on Thursday that the opposition would refrain from taking to streets over flour shortage and higher prices.

They, however, criticised the coalition government for not giving any relief to people. The nation did not know who was running the government because top leaders of the two major parties were taking decisions in Dubai and London, they said.

At a joint news conference at the PML Secretariat after a party meeting, they alleged that a victimisation campaign had been launched in Punjab against political opponents at the behest of an “un-elected individual”, a dig at Shahbaz Sharif.

The PML-Q leaders said that the government had no control over the situation nor was it serious in meeting the May 12 deadline for moving a resolution in the NA for reinstatement of the deposed judges.

“A decision to support or oppose will only be taken when the resolution is out in black and white,” was the reply of Chaudhry Shujaat when he was asked about his party’s position on judges’ reinstatement.
