Govt told to expose ‘conspirators By-poll delay’
Bureau Report
HYDERABAD, May 7: Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has said that the government is raising hue and cry about conspiracies but it should explain to the masses who are the conspirators and why action is not being taken against them.
In a statement faxed to Dawn here on Wednesday, he said that the heads of the coalition parties, ministers and advisers and even the prime minister, have publicly stated that they had no inkling as to who had ordered the postponement of by-elections. This speaks volumes for the helplessness and ineffectiveness of the government, Mr Magsi said and added that how can such a powerless government ameliorate the lot of the masses and protect democracy.
He said it was quite obvious that ‘the dictator sitting in the president house’ was responsible for the postponement of by-elections and federal interior minister Rehman Malik was the main culprit.
Mr Magsi said people like Rehman Malik and Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar were the black sheep of PPP and the democratic government and they were implementing the agenda of the establishment.
Magsi said that from day one, presidency was hatching conspiracies against democracy and the coalition government and efforts were being made to create a gulf between PPP and PML-N and to bring in Q-League as a coalition partner of PPP.
He pointed out that the delay in the restoration of deposed judges and postponement of by-elections were part of these conspiracies.
WAF: The working committee of Women’s Action Committee, Hyderabad, at a meeting held here on Wednesday discussed in detail the decisions taken at the national convention of the forum held in Karachi on January 14, 2008, and adopted the same in toto. Professor Amar Sindhu presided over the meeting.
It demanded implementation of 1973 constitution in letter and spirit as it guaranteed equal rights to the citizens regardless of language, religion, gender and demography as well as secularism. It resolved to work for dispensation of justice and promotion of democracy in the country and struggle against black laws and outdated customs and traditions.
Elections were held for the working committee of Hyderabad chapter and Prof Amar Sindhu was appointed coordinator of the forum for one year.
