By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, May 6: A six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by unidentified men in Shahdadpur taluka of Sanghar district on Monday and that has been confirmed during her medical examination at civil hospital in Hyderabad later in the night.

The girl, according to her paternal uncle Mohammad Anwar, was kidnapped by two people while she was returning home.

She is a student of grade-I and is now admitted in the gynaecology ward for treatment after her medical examination.

Dr Zainab Noor of gynaecology ward has examined her and confirmed that she has been sexually assaulted.

According to the civil hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Manzur Memon, all medical tests have been done. Her test samples have been set to Karachi for further investigation.

He said that the girl was in serious condition when she was admitted in the hospital.

Her uncle said that Shahdadpur police had arrested two suspects, Ramesh Kumar and Ashok Kumar, in the case.

Our Sanghar correspondent adds: A shutterdown strike was observed in Shahdadpur on Tuesday in protest against the criminal assault on the minor girl.

Businessmen and civil society leaders had appealed for the strike. Shahi Bazaar, Sarafa Bazaar, Bombay Bazaar and other commercial areas remained closed.

The assailants had thrown the girl near her home at Bakhori Mohalla in an unconscious condition after committing the crime.

She had been sent to a hospital in Hyderabad in a serious condition.
