West Indies rout Pakistan in U-15 final
LAHORE, May 5: A fine all-round performance by Ramon Senior coupled with an excellent batting display by Kraigg Brathwaite guided the West Indies to a resounding 89-run win over Pakistan in the International Under-15 Cricket Championship final at Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad on Sunday.
After electing to bat first, the hosts following a solid opening stand of 66 provided by Brathwaite (82) and John Campbell (37), posted 228 for seven in the allotted 50 overs as number three batsman Senior (50) also gave boost to the total.
For Pakistan, only Usman Qadir (3-25) could stop the flow of runs besides taking wickets.
In reply, Pakistan hobbled to 53 for five before a 30-run partnership for the sixth wicket saved them from an absolute disaster.
Babar Azam (51) and Usman Qadir (21), batting at number eight, were the only notable scorers for Pakistan.
Senior excelled with the leather too, taking four for 24 to wreck the opponents’ batting as they crumbled to 139 all out in 42.5 overs.
Summarised scores:
WEST INDIES U-15 228 for 7 in 50 overs (Kraigg Brathwaite 82, Ramon Senior 50; Usman Qadir 3-25); PAKISTAN U-15 139 in 42.5 overs (Babar Azam 51, Usman Qadir 21; Ramon Senior 4-24, Donovan Nelson 2-21).—Sports Reporter
