Indians sweep TT tournament

LAHORE, May 5: With Anirbrn Kumar and Susmhmita Ray, crowned men and women singles titles, India made a clean sweep winning all four titles at stake in the International Master Cup Table Tennis at the Wapda Sports Complex on Monday.
The Indians, who had already won the team events of men and women, also maintained their supremacy in the singles event winning all finals.
Anirbrn Nandi subdued team-mate second seed Juban Kumar 11-8, 11-6, 5-11, 11-2 and Sushmita Ray edged out Mousumi Paul 12-10, 11-5, 9-11, 11-4.
Earlier, all Pakistani men and women players were eliminated at the semi-final stages.
Results:
Men’s singles final: Anirbrn Nandi (India) bt Juban Kumar (India) 11-8, 11-6, 5-11, 11-2.
Semi-finals: Juban Kumar bt Saleem Abbas (Wapda) 7-11, 11-6,13-11,13-11; Nandi bt Debesh Karia (India) 11-8, 11-3, 15-11.
Women’s singles final: Sushmita Ray (India) bt Mousumi Paul (India) 12-10, 11-5, 9-11, 11-4.
Women’s semi-finals: Sushmita bt Sadia Falak Sher (Wapda) 11-3, 12-10, 11-2; Paul bt Mansi Bhagwat (India) 11-8, 10-12, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6.
