O’Sullivan opens big lead

SHEFFIELD (England), May 5: Britain’s Ronnie O’Sullivan was on course for his third world title after opening up an 11-5 lead over Ali Carter in the final of the world snooker championship on Sunday.

The Englishman, who was 6-2 up at the end of the first session, continued to dominate when play resumed, compiling a break of 78 in the opening frame of the evening at the Crucible.

After finding himself 8-3 down, Carter, also from England, won back-to-back frames to reduce the arrears to three frames.—Reuters
