Sharifs doing it for their own cause, says Pervaiz

LAHORE, May 2: National Assembly opposition leader Pervaiz Elahi says the Sharifs are trying to restore judges for their own sake.

According to a PML-Q press release, Pervaiz Elahi was addressing a press conference at the PML House on Friday after chairing an organisational meeting.

He said Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif expected their return to parliament after reinstatement of the superior judiciary.

He said during the meeting, party office-bearers and workers had told the chair that fake cases were registered against PML-Q workers in order to harass them. Condemning the registration of ‘fake’ cases, Pervaiz Elahi said the Sharifs had not learnt anything during their exile.

He said the government had no agenda to give relief to the masses as it had no vision and commitment to resolve the issues of the general public.

He questioned Shahbaz’s meddling in postings and transfers.

He said despite the arrival of new wheat crop in the market, the flour crisis persisted. “For the first time in the history of the country, the houses of wheat growers are being raided.”

He said the government could tear textbook pages having pictures of PML-Q leaders, but it should continue with his government’s policy of giving free books to students.

He said the PML-Q had started the organisational work to know the causes of defeat of party candidates in the last general elections besides organising the party.

He said the PML-Q would emerge as the strongest party in the days to come.
