KARACHI, May 1: Defending champion Mohammad Yousuf of Pakistan Air Force and Navy’s Ashfaq Iqbal emerged as opening day’s joint leaders in the four-day National Laser Radial sailing championship which got underway at the PAF Korangi Creek on Thursday.

The two sailors have amassed 6.0 points apiece from three races that were sailed on the first day. They are closely followed by Navy’s Aamir Nawaz with 7.0 points.

A fleet of 13 boats from the three services — Army, Navy and PAF — are competing for honours in the regatta which concludes on Sunday.

A total of nine races are to be sailed in the regatta with two discard allowed.
