By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 30: Police powered themselves to a 3-1 victory over a formidable challenger, Wapda, in the final of the All-Pakistan Sargodha Citrus men’s floodlight volleyball championship played on Wednesday.

Six teams including Pakistan Wapda, Police, NWFP, Punjab, POF and Pakistan Navy participated in the five-day event which was played over single league basis, says a press release of Pakistan Volleyball Federation.

Wapda which rallied a straight set win to see off Pakistan Navy in Tuesday’s semi-final, failed to stage another inspiring comeback against Police, despite winning’ the first set 25-23 but losing out the rest 19-25, 21-25, 23-25.

Wapda started well in the opening set but failed to contain the momentum of their rivals.

Police spikers changed their strategy in the second round and won the second set 19-25 to level the match 1-1.

A sea saw battle and some powerful exchange of smashes were witnessed in the third set but Police performed better to clinch the set 21-25.

In the fourth and final set Police spikers Naseer Ahmed and Sajid Iqbal displayed an acrobatic game to win the match 23-25.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan Navy outclassed POF 3-2 to claim the third position in the championship.
