KARACHI: Inquiry instituted into deportees’ escape

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 30: The FIA director general has ordered an inquiry into the escape of 25 deportees from the custody of the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, popularly known as the passport cell, on Tuesday night.

It was the second incident of its kind involving deportees. In the earlier incident, on March 18, as many as 102 of the 114 illegal jobseekers deported from Abu Dhabi had managed to dodge the FIA personnel at the Quaid-i-Azam International Airport to make their escape good.

On Tuesday night, 25 people deported from Muscat suddenly rushed to the main gate of the passport cell and escaped dodging the FIA officials busy completing legal formalities in the open space of the cell.

An FIR was lodged under Section 224/34 of the PPC at the Preedy police station. The remaining deportees have been given into the jail custody.
