KARACHI, April 24: Five ships carrying containers, wheat, palm oil, furnace oil and chemicals were berthed during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Thursday.

Meanwhile, three more ships with diesel oil, chemicals and iron ore also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Nine ships, ACX Marguerite, Sibi, Giovanna Luliano, Rio Gracia, Nan Hai, Coromel, Vema Ocean, Qem Star and Barcelona Bright, were busy in loading and unloading containers, rice, LPG, wheat, coal, palm oil, furnace oil, chemicals and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 102,074 tons comprising 91,921 tons of import and 10,153 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Al-Soor-II, Sabarimala, ACX Marguerite and Qem Star sailed out while Coromel and Nan Hai were expected to leave the port.
